But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
Philippians 2:19-21
When Paul desired someone to make a dangerous journey to Philippi, he couldn’t find volunteers who were willing to deny themselves life’s comforts.
But there was one man. Timothy was exceptional.
While most of us seek our own things, Timothys seek the things of Jesus Christ.
It is natural to seek our ease and comfort. On cold mornings, we want heat, and on hot afternoons, we prefer cold air. We like plenty to eat, cozy beds to snuggle into, and all the modern conveniences.
How many today would be willing to leave what we have here to represent the Lord Jesus Christ in less favourable places? How many would trade a Mercedes for a mule, Maccas for bland food, and cleanliness for unsanitary spaces?
Father, thank You for Timothy’s example. Help me to promote the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. Make me willing to forsake what I want in order to be Your ambassador to others. I ask this in the Name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.
