Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11
How would you fill in the blank: ‘I was born to _________’?
There are a variety of answers that people give to that question. But our text gives the most correct of them all. It is actually a statement yet to be made, and it will be said to the Lord. It acknowledges that we exist to please the Lord.
The concept here is that we exist by the will of the Lord. Just as cars are built to get us from one place to another, and toothbrushes were designed to help us maintain dental health, so the Lord created people for a purpose, which is fellowship with Himself.
Father, I was born to please You. I don’t exist to have a good time, but to make You smile. Do I? Please show me anything in my life today that doesn’t please You, and help me to confess it, forsake it, and replace it. Help me to want whatever You want. I ask in the Lord Jesus’ Name, Amen.
