…we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
2 Chronicles 20:12
2 Chronicles 20:1-30 – When King Jehoshaphat and the nation of Judah hears about a coalition of enemies too strong for them to beat, they gather in the house of the Lord and pray. No, I mean they REALLY prayed. They acknowledge their only hope was You, Father. That is what it looks like to ‘lean not unto thine own understanding’ (Proverbs 3:5-6). There certainly was no self sufficiency that day!
Father, You love it when Your people trust in You, giving You our problems and acknowledging our complete lack of independence. By the time the story ends, You graciously gave a complete victory. Your people were not disappointed in You. That’s the kind of God You are: totally trustworthy. Today I join with those Jews of old in trusting my problems to Your capable hands, and joyfully praising You.
